What Are Talents in Hogwarts Legacy?
Talents allow you to upgrade spells, plants, and potions in Hogwarts Legacy. There are 50 different talents in total. To unlock talents, you can distribute talent points in five different categories.
In the first official Gameplay Showcase, Game Director Alan Tew explained the influence talents have on the spells in Hogwarts Legacy. According to Tew, each spell has its own identity in the game in terms of what it does regarding puzzles, exploration, and combat.
Through the talent system, each spell can evolve, grow, and change. Talent points even change the way you handle a spell in combat. This applies most to the Dark Arts. Playing with the talents later even affects how you approach a fight and how you perceive the battlefield.
How to Collect Talent Points
Talent Points are used to unlock talents in Hogwarts Legacy. One talent point is required for each talent. You can collect talent points by leveling up. From level 5 there is one talent point per level.
The maximum level in the game is supposed to be 40. In total, you seem to be able to collect 36 talent points by leveling up. So not all of the 48 talents can be unlocked with talent points alone, which are obtained through leveling up. It is still unclear whether there will be talent points as quest rewards or similar.
Furthermore, it doesn’t seem to be possible to reset distributed talent points.

The 50 talents in Hogwarts Legacy are divided into the following five categories:

How to Unlock the Talent System
Talents are not immediately available to you at the beginning of the game. When the developers briefly show the Wizard’s Field Guide in the first official gameplay showcase, the talent menu item is still deactivated there.
The talent menu item states that you have to progress through the main story to unlock the talent function. At what point in the story exactly the talent system will be available is not yet known.
